In our fast-paced world full of data, having a diverse FP&A team is crucial. Here are 5 important roles for building a strong FP&A team ready to boost business success, inspired by a recent webinar I attended;

1️⃣ **𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐭:** The base of any FP&A team. Analysts crunch data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights crucial for strategic decision-making.

2️⃣ **𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭:** With the exponential growth of data, data scientists use advanced analytical techniques and predictive models (including AI 🤖), empowering FP&A teams to extract deeper insights and anticipate future trends.

3️⃣ **𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭:** Acts as a link between IT and finance. They design systems, improve planning, and build models. They also set up data warehouses. This connection speeds up our work.

4️⃣ **𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫:** Transforming data into narratives, storytellers create compelling stories around insights, and inspire action and decision-making.

Each team member typically specializes in one or a few of these areas. We shouldn't force team members to fit into roles that don't align with their strengths. Instead, embracing diversity within the team allows each member to shine in their domains, fostering collaboration and innovation.

Furthermore, enabling rotation within the team allows for upskilling and cross-training, ensuring that team members have the opportunity to develop expertise in different areas and contribute to the team's success in various capacities.
